Adediran Samson A., Bosun-fakunle Yemisi Funmilayo, Olopade David

ABSTRACT
This study examines the impact of entrepreneurship on the economic development of Nigeria. The main objective of the study is to emphatically evaluate the relationship between entrepreneurship and productivity and employment generation in Nigeria. Data for the study were generated through questionnaires (primary sources) which were administered to two hundred and fifty respondents randomly selected from Federal Ministry of labour and production and some ownership of small scale businesses in Edo State. The data generated were analyzed using Chi-square statistics. It was revealed that entrepreneurship contributes significantly to the productivity, employment generation and overall economic development of Nigeria. It was therefore recommended that government should take a giant stride to ensure there is uninterrupted power supply, portable water, good road network and efficient telecommunication services to ensure the growth of entrepreneurship and in turn economic development of Nigeria.
